  • Clinically proven to reduce, flatten, fade and smooth scars -- both old and new
  • Helps prevent the formation of new scars
  • FDA Class 1 medical device used in hospitals and clinics
  • 100% medical grade silicone
  • Washable & reusable
  • Can be easily trimmed

Epi-derm® Natural from Biodermis, is soft silicone gel sheeting for treating keloid and hypertrophic scars. Silicone sheets are tacky on the back and easy to apply. Epi-derm silicone gel sheeting is the most effective, proven method of scar management available today.

WEARING TIME
Optimal wearing time for Epi-Derm Silicone Gel Sheeting is 24 hours per day. If it is not possible to wear the gel sheet for the recommended 24 hour period, a minimum of 12 hours per day is required, washing per the instructions below once in that period. Follow this procedure each day, washing and re-applying the gel sheeting to the scar for 1 to 2 weeks. At that time the piece of gel sheeting will begin to lose its adhesive quality and/or may become embedded with surface dirt. When this occurs, discard the piece of gel sheeting and apply a new piece.

The overall optimal period of use is usually 8 to 12 weeks.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Remove the Epi-Derm every 12 hours to wash both the scar and the gel sheet using SilqueClenz Cleansing Wash. In a basin of warm water, work up a small amount of lather with the cleansing wash. Gently wash the piece of gel sheeting in the soapy water, rinse, and then air dry. Make sure the sheeting is completely dry before re-applying to the scar. After washing, rinsing and drying the scar site re-apply the piece of gel sheeting.

Also available with Clear gel backing.

How Does Silicone Work? Scars need an ideal healing environment, meaning the appropriate balance of moisture and maximum exposure to oxygen. Silicone fully encapsulates the scar site, meaning that it completely covers the treatment site for even distribution of necessary moisture (hydration), and maximum exposure to oxygen. Although the entire site is covered, silicone is semipermeable, allowing oxygen to enter while keeping excess moisture out. Properly hydrated and oxygenated skin allows surrounding healthy tissue to better blend with scar tissue, resulting in a scar that is more natural in color, softer, and flatter overall. Use as directed can dramatically reduce the appearance of scars. Silicone scar treatment in all forms (sheets, ointments, sticks) normalise collagen synthesis and breakdown, resulting in a softer and flatter scar. Silicone is completely non-toxic, safe and easy to use, even on sensitive skin and on children. Silicone is the best option for treating old and new scars.

  • Excellent scar management 5

Posted by Jorja on 30th Dec 2021

I am using the Epi derm gel sheeting 6 weeks post mastopexy. My scarring has significantly reduced, these are easy to use and last for 2 weeks. I wouldn’t use anything else they are the best protocol for surgical scar management. I will continue to use these for a few months.
